The purpose of this blog is to provide timely information to the Wheaton community about the happenings of the Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee (WUDAC). For many in the Wheaton community, WUDAC is a familiar name. But for those new to Wheaton, here's a description of WUDAC:
WUDAC consists of 11 members appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council to provide advice on all matters affecting the Wheaton Urban District area (downtown). Members represent businesses, the Chamber of Commerce, residents, and the Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board (MCCAB).
The Wheaton Urban District is funded by special taxes to support the work of the Committee. It provides special services to the Central Business District to ensure that downtown Wheaton is maintained in a clean, safe and attractive manner to promote a vibrant social and business environment and long-term economic viability and vitality. These services include security, streetscape maintenance, tree maintenance, sidewalk repairs, marketing, and events.So what does this mean? In essence, it's all about preservation of Wheaton's vitality with continuous improvement. Who are the members?
